Why: 'cause you know if you use the best tool (Ex: a Fluke Multimeter or a Black and Decker electric Screwdriver) you're able to do most in less time and with more joy. Thats why I use IDEA even if Eclipse is free @ Brian Slesinsky: We make (a friend and me) a plugin for IntelliJ and isn't so difficult, but the lack of docs and tutorials could be a stopper for most of the people. But if you really want to write a IDEA plugin, you can read some open source plugin code and see how work and then write your own plugin.
