I get that a lot when I tell people I find learning to program ‘hard’

it is not easy. But who in the right mind chose Ruby-RoR for such a thing?

One more time Eric is on target!

But he could have drawn the bag of money as a mirrage, because the business model of Twitter is still an open question, imho. Twitter’s predictable destiny would be the company being acquired by one of stars of the web (Google, Yahoo!, eBay), but nobody will like to pay 1 Billion for such a unreliable service. Soon or later google will drive efforts towards a Twitter clone and acquire rapid user base eventually leaving Twitter in the dust.

Rusty Wright Says:

Remember that saying along the lines that when all you have is a hammer that everything looks like a nail? For the RoR fanboys all web apps should be written in RoR. Even when using a SQL database for storing everything doesn’t make sense.

The other comment I made about this elsewhere was that to me a web developer using Rails is like a cook baking cakes using a Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker cake mix in a box. Sure, you can bake that cake in no time at all (great “time to market”), but you’re learning very little about baking.

Great!

But I think these sort of things get diluted. Passing clouds. Everyday I get a new friend request from a new social networking site and I am sick and tired of it now that I simply ignore as spam.
