@Brad. Absolutely, a 4 seat car would be a big step in the right direction. I also feel that price can be a big deterrent. I wouldn’t be interested in paying $30K – $40K for an electric 4 seat car that has the look and performance of a Ford Fiesta.

Of course, the problem is that companies want to re-coop their development cost and make a profit. Still, it’s hard to justify the pain at the gas pump over the lifetime of an economically priced gasoline vehicle for the “big hit” to the pocketbook for a hybrid or an all electric vehicle. Attitudes about where my gas money goes, can only go so far. I have to be able to afford the vehicle and feed my family, right .

It’s easy to see the problem, but difficult to fix.

Until someone builds a true electric car that satisfies the needs of the average family, I just do not see it catching. Just look at how many two seat gas cars are out today, not many. Someone needs to build a 4 door, 4 seat electric car with about at least a 100 mile range. That has the best chance of success.

This is so cool. I’m ready to trade in my Saturn. This car – technically a motorcycle – is only $20,000 (MSRP). I want one. I’m tired of paying nearly $3 a gallon of gas to foreign oil suppliers, so they can buy cheap road side bombs. Okay, that’s stretch, but hey have an opinion.

As long as I’ve wondered off subject, I’m trying to decide, is it more patriotic to ship necessities over to our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, or buy an electric car to commute with and stop giving OPEC money?

Honestly, it might be more practical to get the hybrid version, if only to make sure you don’t get stranded without an electric supply if you need to travel > 120 miles with it. But that’s about 70 MPG more than I’m getting now. That would drop consumption, demand and price. Sock it to ‘em, California!

Did I mention this is an American made vehicle designed by the Dutch? Oh I want one. They’re just too cool.
